Dog Photography Tips
You found the perfect spot to play. Now you want to document it! Use these tips to snap some epic shots.
- First, use natural light. Sunset light and sunrise light both provide a natural, soft glow. These are my favorite times to shoot. I also like cloudy days, however. The clouds create a nice diffuser, casting soft shadows.
- Next, use a fast shutter speed. Follow their movements and snap several shots, or use “burst mode” on a cell phone to freeze that action.
- Also, rewards make great motivators! Entice your pup to sit, snap a shot, and then reward.
- As an observer, step back and then get close. Look for awesome candids. Patience is key!
- Remember, squeaky toys provide great eye-catching tools to use to get dogs to look at you.
- Finally, ask for help. I find I’m far more successful at making my vision a reality when I ask for help and communicate directions.
- Lastly, (for real this time) be patient and practice. This one is worth mentioning again because it’s so important!
However, hiring a professional to document your time together can save you time and headaches. Check out our services here, if interested.
